Great catch! Basically a perfect B-movie with an A-budget. Atmosphere, pace, thrills, effects (amazing: “dry for wet”) all work wonderfully. Kristen Stewart in a really cool look leading a fine cast. And a story that has a satisfying answer to the mystery (that maybe you shouldn’t have given away) seals the deal.

I watched UNDERWATER about an hour ago. Rationally, I knew that a drill rig seven miles down would never work, I knew that a suit that could withstand that kind of pressure was probably harder to design than a warp drive. I was still engaged in the movie, the characters and the suspense of the situation. It’s amazing how a movie could make the open ocean feel claustrophobic. I need to see more January dump films.
