The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm

Released 1962
Distributor MGM
George Pal’s roadshow fairy tale was epic in every regard, featuring an all-star cast and filmed in the lavish but soon-to-be extinct widescreen process known as Cinerama. Twilight Zone scribe Charles Beaumont was among the screenwriters who reenergized classic tales like The Cobbler and the Elves which took full advantage of Pal’s Puppetoons while special effects heroes Wah Chang and Jim Danforth created a jewel-encrusted dragon that was the film’s selling point in posters and trailers. The jolly green giant worked its magic; Henry Levin’s film topped the box office in 1962.
