Looking for Richard
This 1996 documentary about Richard III was directed by Al Pacino, who had recently starred in a production of the great tragedy on Broadway. Thankfully, the film itself is no downer but rather a witty exploration of the Bard and the actors who would speak his lines. Featuring moments from the play, Pacino also interviews Shakespearean actors of note, including Vanessa Redgrave and John Gielgud. Pacino won the Directors Guild Award for Directing in the documentary category. Bernard’s newest dramatic Al Pacino collaboration Lear Rex is expected later this year.
